“Game of Thrones” fans, rejoice!
In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to make an awesome “Game of Thrones” poster in just five easy steps.
If you’ve never designed a poster before, don’t worry about it! Even beginners will be able to make this poster.
Easy steps are coming…
1. Creating Your Document
Start by creating your poster document. The size can be either 8.5” x 11” for a small poster or 11” x 17” for a medium-sized poster. Choosing whether to use vertical or horizontal orientation depends on what look you’re going for.
A resolution of 300 is recommended if you want to print in high-quality resolution.
2. Adding Graphics
Generally, graphics are the main focus of the poster, so pick one that stands out! You can find a plethora of awesome images from “Game of Thrones” on the web. Start out searching on image repositories and Google Images, and all you need to do is to choose the one you like the most.
It’s always better to shrink your graphics down rather than enlarge them, so choose images with a high resolution whenever possible. Use the transform tools, as well as the move tool, to adjust the image and fit it into your document. Keep the Shift key pressed down as you use the transform tools to apply proportional transformations.
3. Creating Your Text
The “Games of Throne”s text is immediately recognizable to fans, so create a font that resembles it. You can look for the text on the Internet, but you won’t be able to arrange the letters exactly as you wish.
If you want more freedom, then you can make your own logo with a “Game of Thrones” font. There are many versions online. For example, we picked one from the site fontmeme.com that looks pretty nice, but the classic font Trajan will also work well.
4. Adding Extra Effects
To make the text pop even more from the background, add a light glow around the letters and a subtle drop shadow effect from the layer style panel.
You can get creative and make the text transparent, overlay a texture or add a bevel effect. Keep it simple enough so the poster’s text still pops out from the background.
5. Adding the Finishing Touches
A quote from the GoT series will make the poster much more interesting! Choose a quote that will match the graphics you have chosen. For example, a quote from your favorite character would be awesome on your poster.
You can use the same font you used for the title of the show, so just make the quote smaller or use another color to create a separation between the two.

You can switch up your poster’s design by changing images, quotes or even just cropping the main graphics differently. If you want, you can create a series of posters with all your favorite characters!
